The Crust
The crust is the very first layer in Earth. We stand on the crust everyday. The crust has two parts; the continental crust and the oceanic crust. We live on the continental crust because it`s solid ground. The oceanic crust is the ground under the ocean. The crust is about 7 - 70 kilometres thick, and mostly consists of rocks and other loose material. When magma within the crust rises up and breaks through, it forms a volcano. Lava pours out on land and forms rocks!
